When you listen to a song and decide to transcribe it, the work doesn't begin on the staff: it begins with emotion.
Transcribing is learning to listen to the essence .
These days I've been working on a Christmas song full of swing and subtle harmonic colors, and something happened to me again that I always enjoy: that moment when the score begins to reflect not only the notes, but the intention.
Because a good score is not a cold recording—not even an exact one. It is a translation of emotion into musical language .
And I think that's what I love most about this profession: turning what we hear into something that others can hear again, touch and feel from their own creative space.
Perhaps it has happened to you too: that moment when a simple percussion instrument becomes living music.
I would love to read about your experiences.
